Italy

Italy have competed in 14 editions of the FIVB Boys Under - 19 Volleyball World Championship and two years ago finished to fifth place. The Azzurri arrive to this edition with honours of: one gold medal (Teheran 1997), one silver medal (San Juan 1995) and one bronze medal (Algeri 2005).
This year Italy won the silver medal at the European Championship, losing against Czech Republic in the final in their second unsuccessful at European gold final's after Sakarya 2015 and Puchov 1997. Nevertheless, Italy won the European Championship one time in 1997.

Mario Barbiero

Mario Barbiero

Mario Barbiero is born in Velletri in 1958, Mario Barbiero was appointed head coach of the Italy U19 men’s team in 2004, In 2005 leaded the team to two bronze medals, European Championship  and World Championship. Following those two medals he conquered other two silver medals: in 2015 during the European Championship and in 2017 during the European Championship.
