Czech hitter Marek Sotola led all scorers on the field with 13 points scored off purely on attacks, while Jan Svoboda helped out with 10 more points. Mexico captain Raymond Gerald Stephens scored 12 points.

The Mexican side put up a great effort in the first set, executing their brand of offence with much precision, and playing good defence as well. They failed to close out the first set, and later suffered from unforced errors. Czech Republic played steadily through the match, leading on all fronts, with 32 attacks, eight blocks, and seven service aces.
