Captain Joel Schneidmiller scored 22 points to power USA’s offence with 17 attacks, four blocks and a service ace. Cuba’s Lazaro Yoelvis Brunet led his team in scoring with a total of 17 points in the match.

USA showed good mastery of their offence, running their plays smoothly. What also mattered was the pressure in their service. They were aggressive from the service line, giving much difficulty to their opponents in passing the ball. Cuba established their advantage in the third set, but USA took charge with good reception and block formation to win the match in straight sets. USA converted with 36 attacks, the same as Cuba’s output, but excelled with nine blocks and seven service aces.
