Russia’s opposite spiker Maksim Sapozhkov led all scorers on the board with 18 points. The Russian defenders imposed a strong presence at the net, scoring off a total of nine blocks, while Turkey converted with a lone deflection.

By the third set, Russia looked for a strong finish. Pavel Tetyukhin served ferociously to sustain a huge 11-0 lead for the Russian side. Turkey faced difficulty in handling the first ball, which Russia clearly took advantage of, scoring a total of five service aces in the match.
