Jose Carlos Romero Gonzalez helped Cuba gain a tie-break win over defending champions Poland in the 2017 FIVB Volleyball Boys' U19 World Championship
Riffa, Bahrain, August 20, 2017 – Jose Carlos Romero Gonzalez steered Cuba to defeat Poland 3-2 (21-25, 25-22, 25-9, 21-25, 15-10) in Pool B of the 2017 FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U19 World Championship at the Isa City Sports Hall on Sunday.

Romero and Isaac scored 22 and 14 points, respectively. Poland’s Remegiusz Kapica topped all scorers with 23 points, but his team suffered their second loss from their 35 turnovers.
Kapica and Bartosz Firszt shared the scoring load for Poland as they exploited the Cuban defence to win 25-21 in the first set. Romero and Isaac began to feel their offensive rhythm, which helped their team take the next two sets. Kapica got back in the scoring picture to extend the match to a tie-breaker. Cuba’s net defence clicked, which helped them complete match victory in five sets.
