Miyaura and Otsuka help Japan in straight-set win over Cuba

 

Japan captain Kento Miyaura had eight attacks, two blocks an ace in the straight-set win over Cuba in the 2017 FIVB Volleyball Boys' U19 World Championship

Riffa, Bahrain, August 18, 2017 – Kento Miyaura and Tatsunori Otsuka guided Japan to an easy straight-set (25-18, 25-18, 25-12) win over Cuba in the 2017 FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U19 World Championship at the Isa City Sports Hall on Friday.

Miyaura and Otsuka scored 11 points apiece to lead the Japanese offence, while Lazaro Yoelvis Brunet Llanes top scored for Cuba with 17 markers. Japan led on all fronts with a total of 39 attacks, eight blocks, three aces and only 12 errors to beat Cuba.

Japan ran a well-balanced offence and excellent defence to outplay Cuba in the first two sets. The Asian side showed some might at the net against the much taller Cuban attackers to gain a comfortable lead and complete their straight-set win.
