Italy captain Lavia: The key was service and reception

Italy's Lorenzo Sperotto gets ready to serve

Riffa, Bahrain, August 18, 2017 - Italy persisted with their service and attack to win 3-1 against Czech Republic in the 2017 FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U19 World Championship at Isa City Sports Hall on Friday.

Italy coach Mario Barbiero
: Today’s match is very difficult. We know Czech Republic to be a very strong team as we have played against them in the European Championship. Every match is very difficult. In the first and second set, we played really good volleyball in both service and attack. In the third and fourth set, it was Czech Republic’s turn to play good volleyball. I needed to change some of my players, and I am very happy that even my bench players performed well.

Italy captain Daniele Lavia
: The key was our service and reception. We are happy for the victory but we want to improve more technical aspects of our individual performance.

Czech Republic coach Jiri Zach: In the first two sets, the Italians played with good service and we had problems in reception. We improved after that but we later made some mistakes. We were not as organised as we had planned to be.

Czech Republic captain Ondrej Piskacek
: We started badly but we improved our play. It’s heartbreaking to deal with this loss, when we had the chance to go to the fifth set and to win.
