France confirm quarter-finals slot with 3-0 win on USA

 

Riffa, Bahrain, August 24, 2017 - France forged their berth in the quarterfinals of the 2017 FIVB Volleyball Boy’s U19 World Championship with a 3-0 win against USA (25-21, 25-13, 25-20) at Bahrain’s Isa CIty Sports Hall.

Celesti Cardin scored 11 points while Pierre Derouillon contributed another 10 points for France’s win on Thursday. USA captain Joel Schneidmiller led all scorers on the floor with 12 points. The European side showed steady play in the match, setting up Cardin and Derouillon at the wings. They ran their offence with much consistency, even against the tall frontline of USA. Once the Norceca side picked up their tempo, France were quick to react on defence. The European side provided a brilliant display on reception and connected with eight block points. The USA team, as they suffered from the injuries sustained during the match, tried to put up a gallant fight in the third set. But France’s momentum and consistent game ushered in their victory in straight sets.
