Cardin was solid on offence with 16 attacks and an ace, then Remi Bassereau contributed 10 markers in the first two sets for France. Egypt’s Abdelrahman Elhossiny Eissa also finished with 10 points, but his team’s 26 total errors factored in their loss.
France gained a 2-0 set advantage as Cardin and Bassereau carried the scoring load to steady their offence, while Egypt could not stabilise their attack and defence. Egypt gave France a better fight in the third set, but even their better attacks could not prevent the latter from taking the set at 26-24.
