USA

The 2017 USA boys’ youth national team seeks to build on its silver-medal performance at the 2016 NORCECA Boys’ Youth Continental Championship to the FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U19 World Championship in Bahrain. The United States placed seventh at the last U19 World Championship in 2015. The year 2017 marks the seventh time USA has competed in the U19 World Championship, where their best finishes have been seventh places in 1995 and 2015. The boys’ youth national team has a successful history at the NORCECA Boys’ Youth National Championship, earning two gold medals, four silver medals and two bronze medals over the course of 11 competitions.

Shweisky, Samuel

Sam Shweisky returns as head coach of the USA boys’ youth national team after coaching the team to the silver medal in the 2016 NORCECA Boys’ Youth Continental Championship. In that event, the U.S. team pushed Cuba to five sets before losing 15-11 in the fifth. Shweisky also spent two summers serving as an assistant coach for the U.S. Men’s Junior National Team, which won silver at the 2015 Junior Pan-Am Championships, as well as a bronze at the 2014 NORCECA U-21 Men’s Continental Championships in San Salvador, El Salvador. Shweisky is head coach of the men’s volleyball team at Princeton University.
