Esfandiar: I want to win every match

Riffa, Bahrain, August 20, 2017 - Iran powered through a 3-0 win against Mexico on Sunday, for the Norceca side’s second victory in Pool D of the 2017 FIVB Volleyball Boy’s U19 World Championship at Isa City Sports Hall.

Iran coach Reza Vakili Farjad: It was a good match for us with each one playing good volleyball on court. We have prepared for this championship with a good combination of training, recovery and mental conditioning. We are ready for any match in this tournament.

Iran captain Amirhossein Esfandiar: This is an important victory for us. If we played slow and if we relaxed, the result could have been different. Before we started the match, we knew we needed to be strong against a good team like Mexico. As captain, my team-mates need to see me as a strong leader. I want to win every match.

Mexico coach Gabriela Isela
: It was a difficult match as Iran is a strong team. They are very tall, they play smart, and they seem to be playing together for a very long time. On our part, we have work point by point and find the best solution to win.

Mexico captain Raymond Gerald Stephens: I think we have to work harder and be physically stronger to become a better team.
